Functions

BigBlueButton is not only one of the few data protection-compliant solutions for your communication problems in Corona times, but the application also offers many features that you will miss in many higher-priced applications:

• BigBlueButton can be used both as flexible video conferencing software and for training purposes.
• Of course, you can also hold audio-only conferences.
• The system has complete user and role management. All participants receive individual access data, which authorizes them for the corresponding conference rooms and functions.
• Presentations can be made on the screen and documents can be viewed together. In addition, there is a survey function, a whiteboard and the option to share the work screen.
• During a BBB meeting, smaller groups can be formed in so-called breakout rooms, in which participants can then exchange ideas independently of the main conference.
• BigBlueButton has a chat function, which can be used to take notes on what is happening on the screen. Contributions in the chat can either be visible to everyone or only exchanged between individual participants. This means that collaborative documentation or another working basis can be created during the discussion or presentation.
• With the telephone function, we offer you the option of integrating telephone calls into a BBB conference. The participant can then dial into the conference using a telephone. For this purpose, we set up a dedicated telephone number per server for dial-in. This service can be booked as an option. Please refer to the product table above for prices.

Data protection and security

In contrast to the majority of available online conference solutions, BBB can be operated completely securely in terms of security components:

• The server location is in Germany.
• A data processing agreement in accordance with Art. 28 para. 3 GDPR (DPA) has already been signed by us and is available for you.
• All communication connections between the server and the clients are transmitted in encrypted form.
• On request, the standard recording function can be completely deactivated during installation.
• We regularly take care of security and software updates.

If you do not deactivate the recording function, it is your responsibility to ensure the necessary transparency for the participants. In this case, the system will create a recording for each conference. All server-side recordings are deleted after 14 days by default.
