The NorthC data center at Süderstraße 198 was built in 2000 and has been ISO 27001 certified since 2016. It is equipped with a multi-level biometric security system. A combination of access card, PIN, and palm vein scan provides access first to the data center and then to the Artfiles suite.
If you have rented a complete rack, you can receive up to three access cards per rack free of charge, giving you access to your equipment at any time. The individual racks are secured with key and combination locks, allowing you to set your own access codes.
Access to the NorthC data center is monitored by video surveillance and protected by an alarm system. The video recordings are stored for a short time so that any attempted break-ins can be traced. In addition to access monitoring, there is of course also a dense network of fire detectors and sensors for climate control.
Our redundant PDUs, which supply up to 32 A per rack, provide power to your equipment. The power supply is backed up by a UPS and a diesel generator, providing sufficient reserves for uninterrupted data center operation even in the event of prolonged power outages. The electricity you consume is billed transparently using software developed in-house and calibrated electricity meters. In the DCP, this gives you an overview of your power consumption at all times.
In addition to the power supply, sufficient cooling is particularly important for the trouble-free operation of your servers. NorthC uses a raised-floor cooling system with hot and cold aisles, which we incorporate into a cold/hot aisle air conditioning system. In this system, cold aisles for fresh air and warm aisles for exhaust air are created by installing all servers with the front facing the cold aisle and the rear facing the warm aisle.
NorthC acquired the data center from Colt in September 2025. Previously, it belonged to Lumen, CenturyLink, and originally Level(3).

A copper patch panel and, if desired, a fiber-optic patch panel are already preinstalled in the upper section of the rack.
The power strip is located in the lower section of the half rack. Both half racks are separated from each other by a sturdy metal plate.
