Colocation technology

The Artfiles New Media GmbH data center at Wendenstraße 408, Hamburg was completed in 2011. In total, it offers space for around 120 cabinets, spread over two completely separate fire compartments. It has been fully expanded since 2016.

We use Rittal racks in the "W408" data center. Cold aisle containment is installed for all racks to ensure optimum climate control.

The power supply is provided by a dedicated transformer station (10kV > 400V), an expansion space is available. In the event of a fault in the power supply, a diesel generator with a peak output of 690 kVA is available. Several UPS systems are available for the start-up phase (usually less than 60 seconds) of the unit, which is preheated around the clock and can ensure the power supply for up to 10 minutes at maximum capacity. Both the UPS and the air conditioning system are fully redundant.

The power supply in the area is provided via four different main lines and fuses, enabling us to achieve a very high degree of redundancy right down to the individual racks. The space is designed to provide and dissipate 5000 watts of power for each rack (air conditioning, cooling).

The data center has an Inergen extinguishing gas system as a fire extinguishing system. In addition to the smoke detectors, humidity sensors are installed in the floor and air pressure gauges in the cold aisles to ensure trouble-free operation and to be able to react immediately in the event of malfunctions.

The access system is multi-level and secured by alarm and video. Access requires a badge card and PIN entry on the one hand and biometric authentication using a palm vein scanner on the other. Motion detectors and cameras are installed throughout as a security system.
